Press Release - A New Stage Opens in Dieppe
Gaspé Duo Dans l’Shed Will Have the Honor of Inaugurating It
(Moncton, September 8, 2024) – On Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., a new stage will be inaugurated in Dieppe, located in southeastern New Brunswick, and it is none other than the Gaspé duo Dans l’Shed who will have the privilege of presenting the first performance. This new stage is located within the Caserne at the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe (CACD), both on the stage and backstage of the Caserne. The CACD team has put significant effort into both physical and technical renovations to create a venue with about 60 seated places, offering various configurations, and the ability to host up to 100 standing guests.
"This new stage will allow for more intimate performances across a variety of artistic disciplines, and serve as a creative space for artists," explains CACD Director, Séverine Fox. "We envisioned this new venue in collaboration with artist agent Carol Doucet, Director of Grenier Musique, who brought forward this idea just as we were considering the possibilities. Everything aligned perfectly to create this space, and we were fortunate to secure funding for the necessary equipment through the support of Canadian Heritage. We are thrilled to offer this new space to both artists and the community," she adds.
Dans l’Shed
The Gaspé duo Dans l’Shed consists of Éric Dion and André Lavergne. They share their joy of life and an impressive musical camaraderie. With their masterful command of instruments (guitars, dobro, banjo, lap steel...) and beautiful lyrics, they perform original compositions with a folk-country-blues flavor, enriched by vibrant improvisational sections. Drawing inspiration from folk Americana, they tell rural stories through characters that resonate with everyone. The duo has been musical partners for over 20 years and has performed across Canada, the United States, and Europe. They have released four albums and two EPs over the past decade. After their performance in Dieppe, the Gaspé duo will head to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, to perform three shows at the Deep Roots Festival.
