PRESS RELEASE

An explosion of artistic styles on the walls of the DACC
As part of its new series of exhibitions, the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre (DACC) is offering a journey into the world of three artists with very distinct styles: Carl Philippe Gionet, Thomas Vienneau and Pierre Martin.
Carl Philippe Gionet, a native of Caraquet, is a pianist and a very talented multidisciplinary artist. His paintings, exclusively in black and white, are all large formats. When the time comes for the inner Big Bang, he likes this space where the gesture can express itself in raw emotion, in total abandonment, without intention. The same goes for black and white: the possibilities of interpretation are infinite and the light springs from this contrast. This exhibition is the result of a collaboration with the Art-Artistes gallery.
Born in Miramichi, Thomas Vienneau expressed an interest in drawing from an early age. Now based in Moncton, he has been producing art professionally as a painter for over ten years. Some acrylic pieces are heavily coated with paint and done in a more contemporary abstract style, while others have a washed acrylic base and feature more whimsical landscapes and figures, some tribal.
"My exhibition focuses on the individual journeys of queer people, focusing on hardship, hope and love. We should be continually visible and represented in the art world and beyond." emphasizes artist Thomas Vienneau.
A visual art collector at first, Pierre Martin later became a naïve painter. His inspiration comes from artists such as Bradford Naugler, Yvon Gallant, Arthur Villeneuve, Fred Trask and Maud Lewis. He revisits history, tales and legends in a way that encourages new thinking about their interpretation. The artist uses acrylic paint in his creative process and his technique is both spontaneous and self-taught.
A group opening will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 5:00 pm. All works will be on display until November 5 in the open spaces of the DACC and are thus accessible for public enjoyment during the centre’s opening hours.
