FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A DIVERSITY OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
ON THE WALLS OF THE CACD
DIEPPE, NB, JULY 27, 2023 — As part of its new cycle of exhibitions, the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre is offering a journey into the world of five artists with very distinct styles: Jacquie Savoie, Denise Cormier Mahoney, Guylaine Cyr, Jacques Tremblay and Marie-Claude Williams.
Jacquie Savoie, a career nurse, expresses her art through oil painting, inspired by the present moment. Her artistic expression allows her to nourish her soul and recharge her batteries. She conveys traits and emotions in a figurative style that demonstrates the flexibility of the human character. This exhibition is the fruit of a collaboration with the Art-Artistes gallery.
Memramcook-born Denise Cormier Mahoney, for her part, is influenced by medieval compositions, Art Nouveau illustrations and the Post-Impressionist emphasis on personal meaning. In fact, each painting in her new series is accompanied by a poem evoking the sound of a childhood train, used as an artistic underlay.
A versatile artist born in Quebec City, Guylaine Cyr, a metalsmith by trade, photographs places that inspire her the fresh breath of salt air. These dynamic photographs of Tin Can Beach in Saint-John are the result of a love of hiking in the company of her dog.
"The exhibitions in this series tell the story of our respective regions through fantastic and picturesque imagery, but also through the remarkable human portrait of the crossroads of souls," says Guylaine Cyr, artist and director of visual arts development and programming.
Self-taught and a passionate painter since 1983, Jacques Tremblay draws his inspiration from the cultural mosaic of the Quebec and maritime landscape. His captivating artistic images bring back memories of his childhood summer vacations in the Madawaska region.
A proud Acadian and self-taught artist, Marie-Claude Williams is fascinated by the beauty of nature. She translates this fascination into her works, featuring coastal landscapes indexed by elements of nature: wood, leaves, pebbles and more.
A collective opening will take place on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 5 pm. All works will be on display until October 4 in the open spaces of the CACD, and are thus accessible for public enjoyment during opening hours.
