Jessie Babin et Patrick Derible
Franco-Acadian Artist Residency at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre
The Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre is proud to welcome the Franco-Acadian Artist Residency of Jessie Babin and Patrick Derible, a project that is part of cultural collaborations between Acadia and Saint Pierre and Miquelon, France.
This residency celebrates the historical, cultural, and geographic connections that unite our communities by creating a space for Francophone artists to meet, exchange ideas, and collaborate. From August 17 to 21, Jessie Babin and Patrick Derible, will be working at the CACD to create a collective piece inspired by their individual artistic practices, experiences, and the conversations that emerge throughout the residency.
Beyond the creative process, this residency aims to build meaningful connections between artists and the community. The public is invited to participate in a free artistic workshop on Wednesday, August 19, where participants will create Mail-Arts that will be sent back to Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Patrick’s home territory, extending the cultural exchange beyond the residency itself.
This project supports both cultural professionals, by strengthening connections between Acadian and Saint Pierre and Miquelon artists, and the general public, by creating opportunities for discovery, participation, and shared artistic experiences.
To conclude their residency, Jessie Babin and Patrick Derible, invite the community to an open studio on Friday, August 21, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre.
This event will be an opportunity to discover the collective piece created during their residency, connect with the artists, and learn more about the creative process behind their collaboration. Join Patrick and Jessie to explore their artistic worlds and celebrate this unique cultural exchange between Acadia and Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Consulate General of France in the Atlantic Provinces, Ministries of Culture and Overseas Territories, the French Institute in Canada, the Société Nationale de l’Acadie, and the Association Miquelon-Culture-Patrimoine.
More information about the workshop and public activities will be announced soon on our website and social media platforms. We invite you to follow the artists’ journey and join us at the CACD during this unique cultural exchange!
