Jacques Tremblay
Biography
Jacques Tremblay is a painter known for his scenes of Montreal, Quebec City, and Charlevoix, with more than 8,000 paintings to his name.
Born in 1952 in Lachine, Quebec, he regularly visited Saint-Jacques, New Brunswick, during his childhood. A self-taught artist, he draws inspiration from Impressionist painters Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Marc-Aurèle Fortin. He created his first paintings in 1983, and by 1985, he was represented by Cummings Gallery in Montreal, which continued to represent him until 1995. His work has been exhibited in Montreal, Saint-Sauveur, Ottawa, Toronto, and Calgary.
Jacques now lives in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, where his recent paintings revisit memories of his childhood in the Madawaska region. He also draws inspiration from the Moncton area, which he is currently discovering through new scenes. Open to new forms of artistic expression, Jacques is also drawn to contemporary art and continues to explore different pictorial compositions.
